Seeing that today marks the birth of my blogging experience, I thought I'd start with a slight introduction about my aims as a blogger. With Novelty Playlist, I'm shooting to share random facts about the songs that many of us have on our iPods. Ultimately, I'm trying to shine a different sort of light on the songs you already own and present them in an entertaining manner. This is more of a conceptual way to put together a playlist versus the manner in which we typically put one together-- based on mood. It ought to be both entertaining and enlightening.
As I am a fairly avid concertgoer, I'll probably throw in some personal accounts, photos and opinions-- oh, and let's not forget the shameless plugs for my friends music and that of my own!
Because we're dealing with new beginnings today, I thought we'd stick with that idea for playlist thoughts.
Songs titles that begin with the word 'New':
The New - Interpol
New Deep - John Mayer (I have no shame)
A New England - Billy Bragg
New Hampshire - Matt Pond PA
New Jersey - Red House Painters
New Noise - Refused (Driving and loud- beware)
New Partner - Palace Music
The New Pollution - Beck
The New Rap Language - Spoonie G and the Treacherous Three
New Slang - The Shins (DUH)
New Way Home - The Foo Fighters (Back when they were good)
New Years Day - U2
Newjack - Justice
Songs Associated with Beginnings:
I've Just Seen a Face - The Beatles (Had to get the Fab Four in somehow)
Wake Up - The Walkmen
Something New - The Airborne Toxic Event
Primer Dia - Julieta Venegas (had to get some flavor in there)
Genesis - Justice
Life Begins When You're in Love - Billie Holiday
Where I End and You Begin - Radiohead (okay, okay, it's a stretch)
For Beginners - M. Ward
Section 18 (Everything Starts At The Seam) - The Polyphonic Spree
Junior Kickstart - The Go! Team
Going To California - Led Zeppelin
Once Upon a Time - AIR (every story starts like that!--also, one of my favorite songs off of Pocket Symphony)
Firsts:
First Song - Andrew Bird
The First Song - Band of Horses
First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes (If only Emmylou sang on this one- still totally gorge.)
Love at First Sight - Kylie Minogue
One of These Things First - Nick Drake
Obviously my experience in music can be limited to what I like, so let's share! Add songs to the list.
Mix, match, piece together, and put on shuffle!

This is such a great idea! If you or your friends are planning on playing in Phoenix, let me know, I'm always up for a concert.
